Herbalife Nutrition and LA Galaxy Join Forces to Inspire Positive Nutrition and Fitness Habits in Indonesia and Japan

Held from December 10 to 16, five LA Galaxy players — Emmanuel Boateng, Daniel Steres, Dave Romney, Baggio Husidic, Jonathan dos Santos — embarked on a one-week Asia tour, visiting Jakarta, Bali in Indonesia and Tokyo, Yokohama in Japan to take part in various sports nutrition training and community outreach activities organized by Herbalife Nutrition.

As part of the tour, LA Galaxy players conducted a sports nutrition and fitness training session in every city they visited, alongside Dr. Dana Ryan, Director of Sports Performance and Education at Herbalife Nutrition, to equip Herbalife Nutrition members with the understanding to leverage sports nutrition and fitness habits more effectively in their everyday work.

LA Galaxy players also took the opportunity to engage the local sports communities in Indonesia by conducting a series of sports nutrition and coaching clinics for the professional footballers from Indonesia’s U-16, U-23 and PERSIJA Soccer Clubs. A seminar by Dr Dana Ryan and the LA Galaxy coach and dietitians, was also held in partnership with the Sport Faculty of the Universitas Negeri Jakarta to share with university students majoring in sports science the knowledge of maximizing the power of nutrition, to help athletes achieve optimal performances across sporting arenas.

During the tour, LA Galaxy players also took time to meet beneficiaries of Herbalife Nutrition Foundation’s Casa Herbalife Program in Indonesia and Japan to engage in casual futsal games with underprivileged children. A total USD29,000 was donated by LA Galaxy to three Casa Herbalife Program beneficiaries the players visited, which will go towards food subsidies, nutrition education and other projects to improve nutrition of the children.
